COVID-19 Update
A note from our CEO on 16 March:
Taking care of the Bare Team
Our first priority is taking care of the Bare team. We've got an amazing crew who is dedicated to getting our technology into your projects. But before we can get back to the fun of powering your projects we have to make sure that everyone is safe, healthy, and happy. This week we've instituted policies in line with government advice and some of the best practices that we've shamelessly lifted from our global peers in hardware and electronics.
As of Monday the 16 March we have instituted an indefinite mandatory work from home policy. We believe that this is the most effective way to keep our team safe and get past COVID-19 as quickly as possible.
We're being absolutely as flexible as possible about how/when the team can get their work done. Being at home with kids, pets and lots of things to think about isn't easy
We're keeping all of the Bare team up to date on the latest advice for personal hygiene and safety
We're rapidly building communication systems to ensure the continuity of our thriving interdisciplinary culture
We've made sure that everyone has the physical equipment that they need to keep working, prototyping and communicating. Our lab now stretches from London to Brighton :)
We are in constant communication with our manufacturers, warehouses and logistics providers (more on that below) to make sure that we're doing everything we can to help them and to ensure that they are following standards that we are comfortable with
But most importantly, we're maintaining our optimism. Working at Bare Conductive is a joy for me. The team, the community, our partners (and of course the technology) create an infectious sense of possibility every day. Even though we're all stuck in our houses for a bit, we're determined not to lose that magic. And from the emails we have received in the few days it seems like a lot of people are gearing up their home labs to create some pretty serious projects - AWESOME.
We're still shipping and growing
Bare has fantastic manufacturers and logistics partners who are following best practices for hygiene and safety while still shipping our products out to you. Our shop is still open and products are shipping with the same speed they always have. We use James and James, a logistics provider here in the UK. They have been great partners for us and have put a comprehensive plan in place to ensure that their staff is safe and that products continue to ship without delay.
We'd also like to reassure you that our fulfilment centre, James and James also follows the same health and safety rules for their employees' and your protection. More details about it here.
We've had a great start to 2020 with significant improvements to the website, new product launches and new products on the horizon. Most recently we've built Trust Pilot reviews into our site. We're flattered with all of the positive feedback, but more importantly reviews help put our products in the hands of more engineers, designers, artists and makers by making us more visible on the web. Bought a Touch Board or some Electric Paint recently? We would really appreciate if you could leave us a review. Link here.
What you can do to help
We're all in this together. Everyone has a role in helping life get back to normal. From our current understanding, the most effective thing you can do is to practice effective social distancing. The UK government has well-articulated advice here. Please follow the advice distributed in your local area too.
Secondly, you can support small businesses in your local area. Please consider shopping at independently-owned businesses wherever possible. This is going to be a tough time and even small changes in your shopping habits can make a huge difference.
Third, be generous to each other. This is an anxious time with a lot of uncertainty and it is sure to be tough on people in ways that we're not aware of. Take the time to ask people how they are doing, don't forget to call (or write!) and take care of yourself too- but no matter how much you're tempted - no hugging :)
